Home Learning

Welcome to the First Federation Home Learning page. We are delighted to be able to host the Home Learning Provision for children across our Trust, in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, who are continuing their learning at home, during the Partial Opening Phase of schools in the UK.

A team of Teachers and Leaders from across the Trust have worked together to ensure that children who are working at home, continue to receive a high quality of provision for their learning, whilst at home.

Home Learning Themes

Each year group will continue to receive the following learning opportunities

Reception / Year 1:

Wider Curriculum Learning Projects

Outdoor Learning Opportunities

Year 6:

Wider Curriculum Learning Projects

Outdoor Learning Opportunities

For all year groups, the Maths sequences will follow the sequences being covered in school. English objectives will also follow the In-School Learning for this Half Term.

In creating the Home Learning opportunities and the Wider Curriculum Learning Projects, we fully acknowledge that they cannot replace the quality of learning your child receives at school however, our complete focus has been on creating work and opportunities that all children can access to maximise their learning whilst at home.

What are the aims of the Wider Curriculum Learning Projects and the Outdoor Learning?

  • To create age specific learning opportunities for primary school children.
  • To create a resource for parents that is easy to access and use - the focus is on parents being able to help deliver the content or children accessing it independently.
  • Key learning is linked to the National Curriculum.
  • To enable children to continue with their learning at home.
  • To enable families to focus on a joint topic and theme to promote family wide learning.
  • To centralise online learning resources and links into an easy to manage format for families.

What happens if my child finds the learning too difficult?

Our first piece of advice to parents is that ALL children find elements of learning challenging at times so try not to worry if your child becomes stuck and you cannot explain it to them.

The Learning Projects which have been designed are based on the National Curriculum expectations for the year group which your child is in.

What happens if I need to ask a question about the learning?

If you need to ask a question about the learning that has been set, please do not contact your child’s school. Within each year group link, you will find an email address and the name of a school leader to contact. As work is being set by teachers from schools across the Trust, it is likely that your child’s usual teacher has not been directly involved with the setting of tasks. The teachers and leaders who are involved with the setting of the home learning are ready to answer questions and support your child.

How do I submit my child’s work and how will my child receive feedback?

Please submit your child’s work to the appropriate Home Learning Email address for your child’s year group. A member of the Home Learning Team will receive your child’s work and will be able to provide feedback. We will ensure that any special pieces of work or particularly significant pieces are shared with your child’s own school.
