Westcliff Primary Academy welcomes new Head as part of their continued commitment to drive positive change.
Westcliff Primary Academy in Dawlish, Devon has recently welcomed Natasha Outhwaite as the new Head of School as part of their continued commitment to drive positive change. Together, Natasha and the hard-working team have developed a new vision to help improve the overall culture with an aim to nurture minds, develop communicators and inspire learning.
Natasha Outhwaite, Head of School, said, ‘I’ve joined Westcliff at a time when we need to improve overall outcomes and attendance, and as such I’ve already started to implement a rapid improvement plan and highlighted any areas in need of strengthening. With our renewed vision, the introduction of ‘The Westcliff Way’ which addresses how we expect our pupils to learn and behave, and significant amendments to the curriculum including an enhanced phonics programme, we’re already starting to see a change in mindset, a better understanding of expectations, and increased focus among many pupils.’
Natasha continues, ‘Our aim is to continue work on this alongside First Federation Trust, our governing body, as together we are committed to ensuring our pupils receive the best possible education in a safe and nurturing environment.’
Paul Walker, Chief Executive Officer of First Federation Trust, a multi-academy of 29 primary schools across Devon and west Dorset, said, ‘Westcliff is extremely fortunate to have a team of highly skilled, dedicated and passionate staff who are now being supported by Natasha in her new leadership role. As a Trust we also offer support from our team of specialists in education, inclusion, safeguarding and more, and the school can draw from the expertise and knowledge of its supporting Director and School Improvement Officer.
Paul continues, ‘In the most recent Ofsted report, the inspector recognised how welcoming, ‘nurturing and supportive’ the school is, where children feel comfortable discussing concerns, and where there are 'warm and positive’ relationships between staff and pupils. Pupils are described as being respectful, ‘responsible and safe citizens’ with improving attendance levels. We will continue to support the school in every way possible to make sure they remain on this positive trajectory.’
Natasha concludes, ‘I’m looking forward to a positive future with Westcliff Primary Academy and want to focus on the many steps we have already taken to continue making significant improvements in education, culture, inclusivity and more. I’d like to thank our staff, parents, carers and pupils for their constant support and for making me feel welcome in my new role.’
